For my Book Design Technology class, we were tasked to create a special edition book from scratch. I chose a poetry book titled Love & Misadventure by Lang Leav. The exterior of the book has a dark purple book cloth with a textured pattern. An image of a leaf is carved into the book board, then covered with the book cloth and pressed down with a bone folder, creating the debossed leaf on the cover. A leaf motif is incorporated throughout the book, as a small play on the author’s name, Lang Leav. For the interior of the book, I wanted to focus on each poem individually, so each of the poem has drawings that relate to that poem.
